Music with a message

Kelly Rowland. Eddie Izzard. Pete Doherty. Kano. Chipmunk. VV Brown. These are some of the acts who performed at the Love Music Hate Racism Festival in Stoke on 30 May 2009. DJC Design was there to capture all the action.

Billed as ‘Stoke’s biggest ever day of music’, the festival didn’t disappoint the thousands of people who gathered in Stoke’s Britannia Stadium. “It was brilliant seeing so many young people there who were both fans of music and politically active,” says photographer David Colbran.

Love Music Hate Racism draws acts and DJs from across the musical spectrum to celebrate Britain’s diverse multicultural society and this event aimed to encourage music fans to use their vote to stop racist and fascist parties from grabbing seats in the 4 June European Parliament elections.
