Publisher Dorling Kindersley contacted me to supply an image for a forthcoming book.
They provided a specific brief for the jacket cover of an academic title soon to be published called "War" and I looked at a series of concepts, before going back to the client with a formal, memorial theme. Several ideas and locations were discussed and eventually an image of the war memorial outside St Georges Hall, Liverpool, was agreed upon. The image shows a bronze freeze of First World War soldiers marching into battle and this was used as the prime image of the front cover and then as a transparent on the rear. It was a really interesting commercial photography project, working so closely with a picture researcher, who made useful constructive suggestions and I think we ended up with artwork that looks professional and serious enough for the topic.
