Sadly at the age of just 44, Roddy Wilkie died peacefully at home on Sunday 24 July 2016. He leaves behind a family, who love him dearly and a host of friends, who we know love him equally as much.
We would be delighted if you could join us for a celebration of Roddy’s life on Monday 1 August in Liverpool.
Roddy’s funeral service will take place at 1.30pm on Monday 1 August at Ullet Road Church (57 Ullet Road, Sefton Park, Liverpool L17 2AA). The service will be delivered by his good friend Reverend Phil Waldron.
Following the funeral service, a short committal service, starting at 3.00pm, will be held in the Rosemary Chapel, Springwood Crematorium (Springwood Avenue, Liverpool L25 7UN).
In line with Roddy’s wishes and his unwavering love of Newcastle FC (even when relegated!), we would ask that everyone wear black and white (though ardent football and rugby fans are welcome to wear their own club’s colours or football/rugby shirts).
Following the committal service, Marion and Ernie would like to invite you to join them for a celebration of Roddy’s life back at their home (Flat 5, The Courtyard, 55 North Mosley Hill Road, Liverpool L 18 8BL).
While there will be an opportunity for you to speak at the funeral if you wish, we hope that you will share your stories and memories of Roddy at the party, where we will also be playing some of Roddy’s favourite music.
If you would prefer not to attend the committal service at the crematorium, you are welcome to make your way to Marion and Ernie’s apartment, where you will joined by his family and friends later.
To help us plan catering, please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are planning to come to Roddy’s wake.
While we would be delighted if you could join us on Monday 1 August, we know that many of you may not be able to come as the service is taking place in Liverpool. That’s why we will be holding a memorial service for Roddy in Belfast in the autumn. Details to follow.

The entrance to Marion and Ernie’s apartment complex will be signposted with black and white ribbons and balloons as it’s a bit tricky to find.
Roddy didn’t want flowers but rather asked if donations could be made to his two nominated charities:
Donation boxes will be available in both the church and the crematorium but you can also give any donations to Roddy’s family.
