There’s something special about photographing a conference that’s genuinely trying to change the world. This week I had the pleasure of being the event photographer for Healthy City Design, a two-day professional conference held at the iconic Lowry Theatre in the heart of Media City, Salford, Greater Manchester.
The theme was “Breakdown or breakthrough? New strategies for healthier cities”, and the programme lived up to it. Delegates explored fresh, forward-thinking ideas for embedding health and climate resilience at the centre of city development, whether locally, nationally or globally.
Great conference photography is about more than a few snaps of a speaker at a podium. Over two days, my job was to capture the full atmosphere and energy of the event, including:
The Lowry is a fantastic venue, with its striking architecture, great natural light and the waterfront setting of Salford Quays. It makes a brilliant backdrop for professional event photography.
I’m delighted to say that Healthy City Design is a repeat client, and I’ve now been booked to photograph three events in 2027 for them, in Leeds, Newcastle and London. For me, that’s the best compliment there is. Organisers want a photographer who understands the pace of a busy conference, is reliable, blends in discreetly, and delivers polished, ready-to-use images quickly, ideal for post-event marketing, social media, sponsorship reports and of course collateral for next year’s promotional material.
If you’re planning a conference, exhibition, awards evening or corporate event, I’d love to help. Based in Liverpool, I cover commercial and conference photography across Manchester, Salford, the North West and venues throughout the UK, including London.
Get in touch today for a friendly chat about your event and a no-obligation quote. Let’s make sure your next event looks as good as it deserves to.

I am happy to chat, even if you have someone already sorted for the photography. Of course, I can recommend some excellent colleagues both for the photos and the videoography.
If I can't speak right away we can schedule something in / Teams / Zoom etc.

Heading down the M62 at dawn again for another couple of super busy days (and one late evening) with a repeat conference photography client.
There are worse places to photograph a corporate event than a brand-new stadium on the Liverpool waterfront. Read about a day capturing team building and networking at the Hill Dickinson.
Another busy year working for an organisation that advises on public affairs, government relations and stakeholder engagement across Australia, the UK and New Zealand.
