A lot of my recent commissions have been as a construction photographer in Merseyside and beyond. I've worked for both development companies and directly for manufacturers as their products are being installed on site.

A few images from a little commission at Tuebrook ABC (amateur boxing club) - 1a Marlborough Rd, Liverpool L13 8A a couple of years back. The project documented how the sport of boxing is helping excluded from school young people. It encourages them to channel and focus their excess energy and improve their life skills.

Many had a diagnosis of ADHD and their inability to concentrate meant they fell behind academically from a young age, causing bad behaviour to spiral. According to statistics from the UK ADHD Partnership, children with ADHD have more than 100 times greater risk of being permanently excluded from school than other children.

When I was there kids were punching the bags or sparring as music played away in the background. And the smell of sweat and chalk permeated the air.

Of course I am not going to show any faces or include names, just a few little quotes. A great little project on reflection and it certainly seemed to be helping kids change their lives.

“Many of the young people we see have anxiety and confidence issues and struggle to work with others. Initially when kids start there can be arguments and disruption. But after a while we see confidence growing and mini goals achieved. Enabling them to feel good about themselves is very important.”

Global Day of Action for Climate Justice in Liverpool, Saturday 6th November 2021.

The event was been organised by a coalition of environmental groups from across the Liverpool City Region. The march started at South Liverpool’s Sefton Park, followed by a march to the city centre, before culminating in a rally in Derby Square. The demonstration is part of a Global Day of Action for Climate Justice bringing together a wide variety of different movements ‘to build power for system change.’ It was being held as talks continue at the ongoing COP26 meeting of world leaders to discuss action on climate change, which began in Glasgow. "David designed the website for a new company I've started with colleagues. He produced an excellent website for a very reasonable price, had great ideas and was easy and pleasant to deal with throughout. He responded very quickly to our requests and I would strongly recommend him."
