As a specialist conference photographer, I understand the importance of investing in hiring a specialist for your event. You will have spent a significant amount of time and money already on the event, from the venue hire and organising food and drink, through to securing guest speakers and presentations to make your offer stand out.
As part of that planning you really need to factor in booking a professional conference photographer. Hiring an experienced event photographer will help you document the event and share the events story, both at the time via social media and for future marketing collateral for next year's conference.
So, I am going to outline 3 reasons why you should hire a professional conference photographer in Liverpool and why that should be me.
Hosting a conference or congress can be expensive, and as the costs rise and budgets takes a hit, it may be tempting to look at other ways to save money. I have seen the results where a company decides to try and cover photography or videography themselves. Someone keen from the marketing or events team with a borrowed camera, or often worse on their iPhone. Trust me, they are never good. Staff are often super busy, and they will miss important parts of the programme for sure. Or perhaps you shop around and settle on an inexperienced photographer who is the cheapest - that might mean a member of your staff has to shadow them to get what you need. Or worst-case scenario, they don't have the correct equipment or insurance when something goes wrong.
At the end of the day, what price do you put on the reputation of your business?
You might have worked with a product photographer before, and they are great at getting the best images for your sales team. But are they confident with people, organising large group shots, dealing with VIP guests and their PRs? Probably not. Conferences and events require specialist knowledge and a different set of skills than other areas of photography. I have 20 years of experience shooting business and corporate events and I am confident I can achieve comprehensive and quality coverage, in a smart, courteous and professional manner.
I am used to working from a brief, being self-sufficient and as much as possible not tying up your events staff with daft questions. I will allow your team to concentrate on their other task throughout the day, while you leave me to get some great photography.
I guarantee that your event photos will be of the highest quality.
For a good place to start check my previous post 7 Tips for Hiring a Conference Photographer. In summary it suggests key elements include writing a strong brief, including a schedule and must have shot list. Dealing with the logistics, for example taking time to think about any health and safety issues, publicising that there will be a photographer at the event, and detailing the stage, rooms and speakers. Also considering celebrities and VIPs at the events and finally planning for the delivery of the images - both on location for social media and for the full collection post event.
Overall, whoever you choose as your photographer, you must ensure that they have adequate professional equipment to do the job. I use high end DSLRs with long lenses to get those shots of speakers from the side of stages and the backs of room. Also, I always carry backup gear, in case of failures.
I am experienced at capturing the best angles and perspectives - the most creative and natural shots at conference and business events. My style is to be as unobstructive and as stealthy as possible - I don't use flash when people are presenting for example and wear smart dark clothes to blend into the corners of auditoriums.
I have a mobile studio available that I can bring on site and with a little planning and space provide business portrait headshots on site. It might be a good time to do these, when you have all the key members of your staff in one place at one time. Perhaps there is a website rebrand or some new starters? I can get these portraits done quickly and professionally.
My ability to communicate effectively is key, both organising and planning a brief before your event. While during the event, knowing when to engage with people and importantly knowing when not to.
I believe good photography is good business. And I always aim to exceed expectations.
As one of the leading conference photographers Liverpool, I will provide superior quality images for your event. I have extensive working experience of most of the major venues across the city and region and am happy to pass on local fixer knowledge for other services if you are new to the city. Just ask me, and if I don't know straight away, I will know someone who does.
Also, I can recommend additional photographers if you need more than one person coverage and a range of excellent video teams, from simple one camera vox pop set ups to multi camera broadcast quality AV production providers.
I have a lot of satisfied customers and clients and an impressive portfolio of past events, that I can provide testimonials and or example images from. Hit me up for a refence from a communications manager that I have worked with on a multi-day and gala evening event for three years in a row.
I absolutely love the spontaneity of events. Whether you are throwing a glittering gala, a corporate event, or arranging a business conference, I'll document the event and share the events story and spirit through photography. When you choose me as your conference photographer, you can trust that your event will be illustrated perfectly through stylish and creative photography.

I did an info graphic ! And some words and images going through what I try and cover at business events, meetings and conferences.
A series of pictures in and around Wavertree Sports Park. A little personal project from earlier in the year.
Hit the ground running in September with absolutely loads of Liverpool photography commissions and super busy with events related to the Labour Party Conference 2024
"I have employed David for conferences, presentations, social engagements, marketing materials, open days, portrait shots, official document signings amongst many others. David has always been amenable to our sometimes short notice requests and has delivered our photos in a quick time frame as agreed and sometimes much quicker depending on our needs. He has always been very helpful. He follows and delivers on brief and is able to give additional value to jobs with minimal fuss without direction. I am more than happy to recommend David and he will no doubt deliver the same quality he provides us."
