Demolition is underway at Copperas Hill sorting office after £100m plans by Liverpool John Moores University to refurbish it and put a football pitch on the roof were scrapped.
Copperas Hill, near Lime Street station , was a sorting office from 1977 to 2010, when operations moved to Warrington. I was lucky enough to gain access back in 2012 to document the interior, prior to the building being used as part of the Liverpool Biennial. It was a really interesting personal project, as much of the space was exactly like it was when it closed down for business. If you haven't already check my blog post - Urban archaeology at Copperas Hill.
The University is planning new buildings on the land - it is a key site in the city centre, right near Lime Street station - so it will be interesting to see what is developed.

Africa Oye is done and dusted - wow what a great weekend. Saturday's music and line up was a killer. So coming up a few highlights of the artists and some ground views. Anyways, my favourite festival and a highlight of my year for sure.
I was back with the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) at the Manchester Central Convention Complex taking conference photos and covering an evening gala dinner at Manchester Museum
Personal project from 2012 looking at the abandoned Copperas Hill postal sorting office prior to its demolition. #throwbackthursday
"As a new business, it was very important to me to get the right publicity photographs for my marketing materials. When I met David, he listened carefully to what I was trying to achieve with my brand, and then produced fabulous photographs that were exactly what I needed. He was extremely professional throughout but also nice and friendly. Myself and my clients found it easy to relax with him, which was essential to create the right vibe for the shoot. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone."
