The Context and Challenge

Dalton Wise is a new business who required a website with associated branding materials. They came to DJC Design via a business recommendation we successfully completed a similar project for another new venture in Merseyside.

Project background and description

Kim and Richard have been working with businesses and individuals for a number of years to improve personal and professional performance and productivity. Their business has two particular strands - a consultancy element and a more personal therapy and coaching area of expertise. Coaching and therapy options are provided in a 121 setting, while organisational wellness and wellbeing services are implemented through more strategic consultancy techniques. The business is a start up, and while they had some great ideas regarding branding, they asked DJC Design to work on logo designs and to create a suite of social media branding collateral.

Logo design concepts for a Liverpool business

Branding

After a meeting and taking away some design ideas, I put together colour swatches and created some logo concepts. After a weeks work, I presented these remotely online and opened up feedback to them. Recommended them to ask a few other people for input and feedback. And a couple of rounds of revisions and alterations later, they decided on a logo design. This established some core colours for the website and we moved on to the site layout concepts.

Responsive web design

As a business that is marketing to both organisations and individuals, the website needed to work across all devices and be 'responsive' - for example it needed to look as good on someone's mobile phone as it did on a large desktop screen. All websites that I build or project manage are now responsive - which makes perfect business sense. The site was developed on the Wordpress platform - a rock solid content management system that is expandable and something that clients seem to find easy to manage.

Early in the project cycle I set up all the necessary email accounts for them and helped them to get them working on a number of devices and via a number of different email clients. Next task was to create a cool looking holding page for their chosen domain name URL. Once I had collected images and content for the site, I went about developing the site in a test area. We had a few revisions and image changes which are all fairly usual during a site build, prior to the testing period and finally up to the site launch day.

Results

With all start-ups, it is often early days to try and gauge key engagement, retention, adoption and acquisition stats for a new web site. But we've got Google Analytics working away in the background. So future research, business changes, page evaluation etc can all be made with the back up of stacks of data measurements. David designed the website for a new company I've started with colleagues. He produced an excellent website for a very reasonable price, had great ideas and was easy and pleasant to deal with throughout. He responded very quickly to our requests and I would strongly recommend him.
